Last Updated : 3 Jun, 2024

Hello, everyone. I am in First-year undergraduate pursuing Computer Science and Engineering.

GITAM (Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management) Hyderabad is a well-known institution offering various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The GAT(GITAM Admission Test) Exam is the institute's exam for the B-TECH entrance.

EXAM PATTERN OF GAT:

The exam is Online (Computer-Based Test) at the institute itself. The duration of the exam is 2 hours (120 minutes). The number of technical questions is 100 questions. The question type is Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Subjects and Distribution:

  • Mathematics/Biology: 40 questions
  • Physics: 30 questions
  • Chemistry: 30 questions

Each correct answer earns 2 marks. No negative markings for incorrect answers. Soon after you complete the technical subject questions you will be taken to the next section which is the logical reasoning and English questions there is no end to these questions as long as your time ends, there will be questions coming and you should be answering. The result is taken after normalization.

MY EXPERIENCE:

The technical subject question paper of GAT is very easy. Math and chemistry are so easy to go. The physics paper was the only tough part when compared to the other two. The interesting part is the logical reasoning and English questions. After completing these questions, I encountered the questions related to interpersonal skills like a situation played like audio and I had to give my answer, and there were also some logical games as part of the exam which is something different from all other exams that I have written. I got a very good score that got me a 50 % scholarship and my favourite Computer science and Engineering department. Moreover, the paper is not easy all the time. It depends on the shift.

  1. Understand the Syllabus: Familiarize yourself with the detailed syllabus for the GAT exam. Focus on key concepts in Mathematics/Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
  2. Create a Study Plan: Allocate specific time slots for each subject, balancing your study plan to cover all subjects thoroughly. Set weekly targets to complete particular topics and practice questions.
  3. Practice Regularly: Solve previous years’ GAT papers to get a feel of the question pattern and difficulty level. Take online mock tests to simulate the exam environment and improve your time management skills.
  4. Revise and Review: Regularly revise the topics you have studied to retain concepts. Make summary notes for quick revision before the exam. Review your mistakes in practice tests and learn from them.
